It has been a weird, winding, and wonky road for Life is Feudal. The MMO version of the game was shut down in 2021 but started to got a resurrection from Long Tale Games, which included a release on Steam earlier this year. That launch didn’t go over great, if you’re wondering; recent reviews on Steam are “mostly negative,” even though LTG has continued updates all year.
Now it looks as if LTG is putting out a second MMO version of the game: Life is Feudal: Arden, a free-to-play title that features several additional updates like a titular new map, streamlined crafting and character progression, trading adjustments that require players to deliver goods for more realism, and region-specific judgment hours.
Closed beta testing of Arden is planned to begin this December on LTG’s own launcher, with access granted to those who purchase an early access pack, those who already have bought a subscription to LiF: MMO, and those who score giveaway keys or friend invites. The game will then move into open beta testing at some point afterward on both the LTG launcher and Steam, while gamers who have bought early access packs will get into open beta two days in advance.
LTG promises in a follow-up FAQ that development on its first LiF revival (aka Godenland) will not be hindered by work on Arden, confirms that character transfers between the two MMOs will not be possible, and confirms PvP, PvE, and PvPvE zones will be in Arden. It also does affirm that Arden is both a new map and a new client, so get ready to juggle two titles at once, apparently.
