One Shots: Hobbit herbal hobbies

If Hobbits are seen as being generally lazy creatures that gobble up their weight in food every day, then how come they have such a productive society? Reader Ryuen has a suspicion that herbal supplements might be a key factor in motivating Hobbits to work hard.

“Here’s an old picture that I still quite like from Lord of the Rings Online,” he said. “My Hobbit peacefully farming some pipeweed in the Shire.”

Versus, you know, aggressively farming. Actually, I’d play that kind of game.

With a lot of eyes returning to LOTRO lately, it’s no surprise that we’re seeing a few more screencaps from this beloved MMO than usual. Katriana has one that features Elvish architecture, but don’t worry — after a strategic neutron bomb, all the Elves have been removed to make way for luxury condominiums.

“The view of Elven buildings across the river from Celondim always makes me want to take screenshots of it,” she said. “Never have managed to catch just the right angle/lighting/etc. to do it justice of how pretty it is in game.”

Here’s a blast from the past! Reader Hurbster is about to trigger all sorts of fond memories from Warhammer Online vets, so prepare yourself right now.

“Here’s an old favorite and one that took me ages to get right,” he said. That’s one tough windmill — it never quite burned down, did it? They made them better in the olden days.

And since we’re dining in hell, we might as well join Rafael, who got there ahead of us and made a reservation for a party of 8,000.

“Here is one place that I gravitate toward in Blade and Soul,” he said. “Necropolis. The city of dead. Which, ironically, makes for some lively atmospheric caps.”

They have killer chicken wings, or so I hear. I might be very hungry as I write this.

“I do believe Star Trek Online could benefit greatly from a graphics overhaul, when it comes to the actual avatars and ground missions,” said Rees Racer.” Still, the starship/space combat still looks pretty fabulous. At least the astrometrics portion was redone a couple of years ago, and the images can be quite lovely. I started a new captain this past week, and always enjoy taking a few shots of my Constitution-class cruiser in sector space.”

We’re getting into the last month of the year here, so let’s pull out all the stops and ask for your favorite screenshot(s) of 2018! Post ’em, let us know the backstory behind ’em, and we’ll see what we can do to feature ’em.

Every week, One Shots shines a spotlight on the best community screenshots from your MMO adventures. If you have a great pic to share, email it to justin@massivelyop.com with the subject “One Shots.” Make sure that the picture is over 880px wide and comes with a description or story!
