Roadmap roadmap getcher Guild Wars 2 roadmap here! Yep ArenaNet’s dropped a roadmap for the “final arc” of the Icebrood Saga this afternoon. “The Icebrood Saga: Champions is a multichapter Living World finale featuring new story, repeatable gameplay content, rewards, achievements, and masteries,” ArenaNet explains. “In the weeks between releases, each chapter will continue to evolve with new content and ways to play.”
This arc will apparently have at least four chapters, the first of which, Truce, is due next month on November 17th. We’ll get Chapter 2: Power in January, Chapter 3: Balance in March, and Chapter 4: Judgment in May. That’s interspersed with all the usual holidays too, of course. The studio is also penciling in the delayed voice acting for the Jormag Rising and No Quarter episodes to coincide with the launch of Truce, so if you’ve been waiting through the pandemic for those to get patched up, you won’t have much longer to fuss.
As for what kind of content is coming with the arc besides the storyline, it looks as if we’ll be dealing with “global faction mobilization events, a new Dragon Slayer mastery track, and “replayable Dragon Response missions.”
“Each chapter of The Icebrood Saga: Champions introduces new Dragon Response Missions, which can be tackled solo or in a group of up to five players. In these encounters, you’ll head to invasion points to shore up defenses and protect the area from rampaging dragon minions. Work together with allied reinforcements to neutralize powerful dragon champions—the ultimate threat at the heart of the assaults.”
ArenaNet is cautioning players that the “timeline is independent of [its] announcement and release plans for Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons,” but we do know that expansion is launching next year too, so the roadmap seems to hint at a summer-to-fall launch to avoid overlap.
In other Guild Wars 2 news, today’s smallish update fixes the Chasing Tales achievement, tweaks annoyances with the Mystic Forge, and disables some consumables in in dungeons and fractals.
