Soulframe talks expanding testing access and shows off new gameplay footage at PAX East

Digital Extremes’ second game Soulframe is currently in what it’s calling “pre-pre-pre-pre-alpha,” which suggests that its pool of testers is pretty small. That notion appears to be changing moving forward, as creative director Geoff Crookes took to the PAX East stage to talk about a widening of testing over the course of this year.

Crookes opens with “ambitions for a wider release this year” for the mercifully shortened “preludes build” of Soulframe, including internal discussions about its founder’s program (which will be “a bit more of an open concept one” compared to Warframe’s) and plans to send up to 2,500 keys a week; to that point, Crookes encourages interested fans to sign up and keep checking their email inboxes.

The presentation closes with a new gameplay trailer that offers up some fresh footage of the world, some combat, confirmation that you can scritch the heads of beavers, and a very large bear friend. That video can be seen below the break.
