A big Elite: Dangerous update called Powerplay is on the way, and with it will come significant improvements to the space sim’s mining game. One of the new tools that miners will get is a prospector drone, which will find scan objects to find rich deposits.
“After Powerplay launches, mining will become a more viable route to riches,” the team promises in its recent newsletter. “But we think mining should be a game of risk and reward, so you’ll find high and low intensity extraction sites in human-occupied space, but with pirates swarming the high intensity areas you’ll face greater danger… and greater rewards.”
Over on the official forums, the team posted that it will be running a Mac/PC crossplay test in a few weeks.
