Project Genom gameplay video shows off its high-tech weapons

The sci-fi shooter Project Genom is making great strides with its post-Unreal Engine 4 transition, and the dev team put together a new gameplay video to show off how shockingly good-looking the game and its models are.

The following video shows a heavily armored character running around in one of the environments and fighting mobs with a variety of weapons while a developer discusses the options that players will have. There’s also talk of the leveling and skill system, and how that will differ in Project Genom compared to other MMOs. You can check it out after the break!

Is there a backstory that explains why in this SciFi world, everyone is running around with swords and bladed sticks? I mean, did humanity at some point decide that killing stuff at a distance is just too safe and boring? Not unique to this game, and somehow always bothers me in SciFi games.

no collision detection at all it seems so apparently no reaction to these nonexistent collisions – that’s gonna be fixed – – – –  right ?

Skyewauker I hope that’s just an early development thing and not something they plan to keep. Considering the just switched to unreal 4 I doubt it’s going to stay that basic though.

Skyewauker It doesn’t feel like the mobs or player characters have any reaction to being hit or shot.  There’s no feeling of physics.

The only thing that bothers me about the gameplay footage I have seen, is that there is no weapon to target interaction.  I dunno how to explain it exactly.  It just seems so noninteractive.  Im really struggling to fidn a way to explain it.
