Crowfall has kicked off external pre-alpha Siege Perilous testing

Let the crows fall, let them tumble.

You don’t know if you like Crowfall yet. Sure, you may have taken part in the Hunger Dome testing, but we’re going to let you in on a secret: That wasn’t anything. That was just mechanics. No, it’s the Siege Perilous testing that’s live now which is all about providing players with new ways to do things and show just a snippet of what Crowfall brings to the MMO space that’s diverse. Did we mention that it’s live? Because it is.

The participants in this particular test are still sharply limited, but players will be getting invited in greater numbers over the next few weeks. There may or may not be siege weapons heavily involved in this version of the testing, as the Throne War testing is next on the agenda, along with another new archetype for players (the Druid). If you’re a backer and can’t wait to get into the business of tearing down castle walls, take heart; your time is coming soon.

Syco_at_Twitch Uhh try one year since Kickstarter and the progress has been far greater than any other Kickstarter project I have seen.

Leilonii Francis courant Yea maybe he could have written it all more clearly so everybody knows that he was not being serious. Communication on internet is hard sometimes (I’m a good example of that) =P

Francis courant Leilonii “The developer is mocking other developers who presumably spent their crowdfunding money on drugs and other non-development related stuff”

If this is the case I think it’s a pretty far stretch to expect most people to have any clue about that. The reaction on several sites last week when that was posted was pretty unanimously negative.

Leilonii I don’t see anything scandalous in that screenshot. Sure the developer is mocking other developers who presumably spent their crowdfunding money on drugs and other non-development related stuff, and he’s admitting that they drop the F bomb from time to time in the studio, but that’s not something I consider shocking.

For the professionalism though I agree with you, it’s probably not the best way to write a serious job ad =P

Syco_at_Twitch The development of Crowfall apparently began in 2013, but MMORPGs take years and years to get created. ESO had like +500 workers on the project and the development lasted for about 7 years. ACE probably didn’t have its full team of developers before late 2014 and they’re less than 25 people working on this game if I’m correct.
The name “Pre-Alpha” doesn’t inform us much on the state of the development, it’s the progress made and how far they’re from launch that count imo.
Since the developers can call their testing phase the way they want, one studio may call “beta” what another studio would call “pre-alpha” and it’s not really giving us much information about the progress.

The Throne War module is what I find the most exciting.
The first campaign is probably going to be a lot of fun. =D

Syco_at_Twitch If you’re not sure about how long it takes to make an MMO, I encourage you to try it.

Syco_at_Twitch Are you kidding? The game finished Kickstarter in the end of March last year, then had to completely redesign the combat system they had started with and managed to do so in a matter of months to start testing in September I think? They’ve come a long way in a few short months in terms of improving upon that, introducing new archetypes and new game systems. This game’s development is progressing faster than most games out there. They’re one of the few actually doing it right (and the only others I can think of that are worth praising are Korean devs like Pearl Abyss).
