One Shots: I make this look good

Back in high school, I thought it was the epitome of cool to wear reflective aviator shades and a jean jacket. Alas, I could not pull it off. So it is with growing envy that I look upon Ralph the Wonder Llama’s excellent character ensemble here in TERA.

“My archer was standing outside the Temple of Sikander while I waited for my guildies to arrive,” Ralph writes. “The temple has this exploding energy ring overhead and I was trying to get a better look at it when I realized it would make a really nice screenshot. I’m still not sure what the exploding energy ring is for, but it sure is pretty!”

Many of you continued to “look up” in MMOs to see what photogenic sights might be overhead. Mailvaltar thinks that this proved the universe does indeed revolve around him and his gear acquisition.

“To be honest, here I wasn’t paying all that much attention to the sky, because mainly I was trying to take a dramatic, heroic shot of my FFXIV main who had just acquired his first epic weapon. The night sky is pretty impressive all of it’s own though, isn’t it?”

Yes. It is.

Sometimes the night truly does make for better pictures. More dramatic, to be sure. There’s something about this gargantuan bird in Lord of the Rings Online sitting alert in the night, ready to take off, that looks so powerful and threatening.

“Here is the giant eagle Landroval, posing for a screenshot,” Yrys submitted.

“The annual return of Q’s Winter Wonderland in Star Trek Online brings with it the customary snowball fight,” ReesRacer said. “The culmination leads to the battle against the giant snowman in the middle of the frozen lake. Strangely, this is not even as absurd as the Klingon Ice Fishing competition that follows. Apologies for the quality of the image as I was forced to used my laptop because I am presently on holiday in RL as well!”one5

“I am playing the early access of Guardians of Ember, 26 hours in,” said Zulika_Mi_Nam. “As a ARPG/MMO I had to try it and so far I am enjoying it. It is what I am spending the bulk of my gaming time in at the moment. It has all the issues that early access games do, but hopefully the soon to come US servers will fix much of the laggy ones.”

Since next Sunday marks the start of a fresh new year, my screenshot challenge to you this week is to take a screenshot of something related to a new year’s resolution. What do you want to be doing in MMOs in 2017? Let’s see a start of that with a picture to commemorate the moment!

Every week, One Shots shines a spotlight on the best community screenshots from your MMO adventures. If you have a great pic to share, email it to justin@massivelyop.com with the subject “One Shots.” Make sure that the picture is over 880px wide and comes with a description or story!
