Remember all those rumors about Marvel Heroes maybe someday coming to console, right down to a screenshot of a possible console UI? It’s happening! Gazillion announced this morning that the game is porting over to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this spring as “Marvel Heroes Omega.”
“On behalf of everyone at Gazillion, I’m excited to share news that we’re bringing Marvel Heroes Omega to PS4 this spring,” writes Gazillion Community Manager David Lee on the PlayStation blog. “So what is Marvel Heroes Omega? Marvel Heroes Omega doesn’t really fall into typical genre categories. It draws inspiration from both action-RPGs and MMOs, making it a truly unique blend of non-stop action and near limitless progression!”
According to the Q&A on the official forums, the game is also headed to the Xbox One, though it’ll release separately. Gazillion says it has no plans to transfer characters from PC to PS4; cross-platform play is not happening either. Closed beta will begin soon with lots of perks for paying PS members and an early access program too.
The game looks much narrower in focus, with only 38 of the MMO’s playable toons. “By narrowing our focus and scope, the Marvel Heroes team can ensure the best possible experience on console at launch,” says Gaz. “Don’t worry, we plan regular additions and updates!”
