“Game Workers Unite condemns ArenaNet for Guild Wars 2 developer firings”

Of course they condemn it. They’re an organization trying to form a Union for game industry workers. No matter how justified it was they’re going to condemn it trying to get new members to join up.

I would have said so on the main article page instead, but there was a day comments were disabled a while on the site, and for some reason they never were enabled again on that page so I can’t comment there :D

…and they will likely stay unenabled to the end of time. It is as Ms. Bree intended I believe.

The real question is how much time did Bree spend babysitting those GW2 threads this week :D

P.S. uhm, My avatar seems to be borked & isn’t loading, but since the ability to manage our own accounts is still on the wish list: I can’t go fix it myself.

… I know this has been a hell week for you Bree, so you can toss this on the “whenever” pile.

And of course Defiance 2050 is getting Mostly Negative reviews because Trion is basically just trying to do a worse version of what Funcom did with Secret World Legends. SWL for what it’s worth has at least made improvements based on feedback and has been adding new content to the game, whereas with Defiance 2050 Trion is basically just trying to nickel/dime Defiance players a second time around.

Which sucks because they had a window of opportunity to cast off the dead weight that was the TV show tie-in & really make the game stand on its own with this revamp / relaunch.

I actually quite liked the game back in the PS3, even if I never got all that far into it :/

Pretty much. With all the issues that SWL have, Funcom is at least trying.

I booted it up because I saw some people saying it’s a ‘remaster’ of sorts, bringing some polish to the game, and I admit I had sunk quite a few hours into it when it first launched.

Nope. Graphics from 2013 with no updates whatsoever, the same shooting mechanics, and characters now shoehorned into classes. No polish, same storyline, basically a reboot for the sake of bringing in more people to buy their ‘starter packs’. And practically no one was around.

Absolute waste of my bandwidth.

Yeah and it still has all the old issues. This basically seemed like their attempt to (finally) get Defiance on XB1/PS4 but they also took the opportunity to remonetize it and try to get PC players to spend money on things they previously owned.

Like I get they’re probably unable to design a brand new Defiance game, but come on… were they really that low on budget + in a rush to push this out to see how much money they could make off of it?
