TERA is rolling back all progress since yesterday’s patch thanks to a nasty economy exploit

Yesterday’s TERA Skywatch: New Heights update brought along a bit more than En Masse bargained for, and now the servers will see a rollback to mop it up.

According to player accounts, the patch allowed subbers to sell defunct dungeon scrolls to NPCs at a highly inflated rate that makes sense in Korea but not under the western mechanics. Consequently, the economy was immediately disrupted as a significant amount of money flooded into the game and players started buying up everything of any value on the trade broker.

[AL:TERA]We reached out to En Masse this morning for a statement, and now the studio’s made an announcement. Yes, there will be a rollback.

“After the completion of yesterdays maintenance, several exploits were discovered that granted players unfair advantages, and delivered unintended rewards and materials. As well, an easily accessible item was granting extreme amounts of gold, causing large economic issues. As a result, we will be executing an emergency maintenance. During this time, we will be accomplishing three things: Player progress will be rolled back to just before maintenance ended on 4/9. Dismantling semi-enigmatic scrolls will have an adjusted rate of delivery for entropic emblems. Free instance reset scrolls obtained from the Elite consumables box will have its sale price reduced drastically.”

En Masse is compensating TERA players for the lost game time with a bonus experience event running for the next 24 hours.
