We’ve had persistent rumors about development on Diablo 4 for a long time now, thanks to Blizzard job postings and teases and leaks. And now, a French newspaper might have just confirmed that the game is well along in development while discussing something entirely different. Specifically, Le Monde has covered the fact that the more than 100 employees of Blizzard in Versailles are still in the pits in terms of morale, since employees there have been in limbo since the mass layoffs earlier this year. French staff were told that their positions would be eliminated, but not which positions, when, or whether or not the staff will be laid off.
To quote from the article, with thanks to Icy Veins for the translation:
What about the future? Teams at Blizzard Entertainment have already been presented with the long-awaited Diablo 4 and know that a new Overwatch game is in development. But neither of these two games will be released before 2020, at the very best, and employees at Versailles have no idea if they will still be around when they eventually release. “Activision Blizzard will be making less of a profit, but this will still amount to a lot of profit,” says a veteran employee.
It’s unclear whether either of these games will be on display at this year’s BlizzCon, although it seems likely.
