Cryptic is hiring (again?) for its Magic: the Gathering MMO

Oh, oh, oh, it's Magic.

The Cryptic-developed MMO based on Magic: the Gathering has entered several periods of long silence from the studio, but the latest post about hiring serves as both a confirmation that the game is still happening and a hint about where it is in production. Positions being sought on the studio’s official site include content design, character artists, environmental artists, producer, and UI designer. That all sounds like fairly early work to be done, but it also seems to hint that the earliest stages have started to wrap up.

Of course, it’s all speculation about a game last confirmed in a Neverwinter development post back in April, so it’s clear that the game still has some distance to go before launch. All the same, if you’d been worried that the project had been quietly abandoned, this makes it clear that it’s still in motion if somewhat slower. It’s not quite as simple as just tossing the card game into digital form, after all.
