This week’s Star Citizen video digest has a little mission for you, should you choose to accept it. An 890 Jump has been taken over by pirates, and you must recover it. Should you fail, the CIG mission force will disavow any knowledge of your existence. This website comment section will self-destruct in five seconds because that usually happens with some folks when it comes to Star Citizen stories.
Alpha 3.8 will introduce an all-new kind of mission that tasks players with heading to the hijacked spaceship, clearing out enemy ships outside, then entering the ship from the hangar to clear out more nasties in FPS combat as well as stop a number of hacks from completing before time expires. There are also a number of security guards to rescue should players choose to as well, though that objective doesn’t appear mission critical.
The hijacked ship mission is the first of its kind that wasn’t possible in Star Citizen before until the 890 Jump was created and mission sharing was implemented. As such, this mission is best suited for a team of players, though a solo player could conceivably finish it if they don’t mind the difficulty curve (compounded by the rather long NPC time to kill in FPS combat).
The video also offered a quick look at the game’s sound design with thoughts from several sound designers about working on Star Citizen and their role in fleshing out the world. You can check it all out in the embed.
