Legends of Aria announces $19.99 Dark Sorcery DLC launching this month

If you were figuring Legends of Aria was giving up last year roundabout the time it had those launch delays and see-sawing PvP do-overs, you might want to give it another look. Citadel Studios has just announced new DLC for the game dubbed Dark Sorcery. Launching later in March for $19.99, Dark Sorcery is promising a spooky temple dungeon called The Monolith, a new race of enemies, and two new sorcery skills (sounds like summoning and dark arts). Preorders come with a special fox mount too.

“This is something we’ve been working on since before the Steam launch in August,” Citadel’s Derek Brinkmann says. “Our first priority is to make sure we deliver timely updates to the game that march us ever closer to leaving Early Access. That is why this DLC has been so long in the making. We wanted to make sure that it landed in between regular Point Releases and did not disrupt that schedule. (We also wanted to make sure it kicked ass).” He also promises that the team will be carving out its path out of early access too.

They’ve even got a video. Damn, there are AAA games that don’t even have videos for their DLC nowadays. Nice work, Citadel.

lol. A little bit biased, aren’t we?

I propose we stop calling this game early access. If it’s ready to be selling DLC than the base game is clearly finished.

They had me months ago, then they did the whole rule set change again and I’ll never trust these idiots again.

The base game is so lacking in anything that creates an immersive game and they want to go and pump out a paid DLC. Sounds more like they are strapped for cash and need funds quickly.

Maybe work on the base game and get that fleshed out and get it a freaking identity. The world is boring and has nothing to give it any meaning. They don’t even have the whole map done yet, maybe work on that as well instead of diverting resources to useless projects.

The rule set change did nothing for them and they are right back to where they were, and I knew this would happen and called it, but the PvP’ers didn’t believe me. They figured all the PvE’ers would stay and they would be able to run around killing the defenseless sheep. Maybe that worked in the first week or so, but people can only take so much of that before they quit.

The issue is the content and not the ruleset. If they worked on content and giving the world a feeling of being lived in, they would not be in the predicament they are in now. They’d have more than a 100 playing on Steam and more than the (most likely) few hundred more on their launcher. Most importantly they would not have ticked off the majority of their player base.

All I want is the custom server hosting/modding ability promised in crowdfunding. That is literally it.

This a thousand times. Both they and sota promised we could run our own games and turned out to be lying to try to get more cash.

Yes, become another dev who pushes out an incomplete dlc while your base game is incomplete and unreleased. You’re a triple A studio now!

Quick, focus on the cash shop only from now on and we’ll never be able to tell the difference again.

Is the quick buck just that enticing for devs these days? Does no one actually like finishing projects/games? We can’t even blame it on only the big companies anymore. Every ks and crowdfund seems to just be doing the same thing

I remain shocked how bare-bones their cash shop was at the various ‘launches’ they’ve had and how limited it remains. They’ve missed out on tens of thousands of dollars from people who played a week or two before they figured out how shallow the game was.

Preorder it and get a mount that makes you immune to damage. Devs are desperate as fuck.

Yeah, that’s not game breaking. People lost their backer horses when they died, some by mistake, and they go and throw this in.

Desperation breeds stupidity.

I need to go back and give this game another shot.

$19.99 for two new skill lines and a dungeon that will be infested with reds waiting to kill and dry loot you at every corner. What a deal, Sounds fun! /sarcasm

When did these devs start getting so damn ballsy?
