Back in March, Final Fantasy XIV’s developers turned off the housing demolition timers due to the ongoing global pandemic, so no one has to worry about logging on to the game to make sure a house isn’t demolished. This is a good thing, and it’s not changing soon. Unfortunately, it also means that inactive houses are not currently subject to any churn, which means that getting a house is even more difficult than normal… a situation hopefully addressed, at least in part, with the promise of more housing plots being added in the game’s next major patch.
While an exact number is not given, the small Twitter thread notes that more plots were already on the agenda, but the process of adding new hardware to servers has been slowed down by the aforementioned global pandemic. A full announcement is planned “soon,” but it seems clear that the team is working to address the game’s inequalities of housing and provide more spaces to hang your metaphorical hat.
2. While we are very grateful for the increase in players due to the new updates, the housing demolition timer has remained disabled due to COVID-19. We are planning to add more plots soon, but due to the current situation, the installation process has been slowed down.
