Betawatch: Dragonflight moves into proper beta testing

I'm sure somebody thinks that's neat!

What’s the difference between World of Warcraft: Dragonflight between now and last week? Now it’s in actual beta. Like, for-real beta. Yes, the distinction between “alpha” and “beta” in this case might feel exceptionally fuzzy, largely due to all of the fuzz, but the point is that it has the actual beta label now and it’s in beta. Whether or not it’s going to be out before the end of the year as planned remains an open question, but this definitely marks it closer to that category!

Further beta news awaits you just yonder:

And now, we present to you… a list of games in testing! Which is actually what comes last, but it’s less exciting and entertaining than the introduction every week. Still, if you notice something hasn’t been updated properly in the list down below because it skipped to a new test phase, let us know down in the comments!

As always, we consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s usually under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed, nor will games that are NFT/blockchain scams; we also do not list expansions, with occasional exceptions.

Yes, MMO gamers, you too can perform the unpaid quality-control work otherwise known as game testing! Check out Massively Overpowered’s Betawatch every week for a run-down of MMOs that are still on the road to launch, even if they appear to have set up a permanent residence in a shed called early access.
