MassivelyOP’s not-so-serious end-of-the-year awards continue today with our pick for leakiest MMO studio. (We call these silly awards the Golden Yachties in honor of that dank meme about how games bloggers sail around on a golden yacht with all their blogging money. Obviously, our yacht is constructed from rhodium-encrusted moonrock, not mere gold.)
And the winner is…
BLIZZARD
Holy crap you guys. Even if we limit this award to just 2022, Blizzard saw half a dozen major leaks this year: two for Diablo IV, one for Overwatch 2, one for Wrath Classic, and two for WoW Dragonflight itself. That last one was another self-own, even, as a line of code in WoW’s web code gave the name away, which was followed by a deluge of leaks on Reddit. All of that follows the massive 2021 leak in which Blizzard managed to post all of the press releases for its big reveals on its press website in full view of the public, thereby spoiling BlizzConline. Oof.
