There’s been a changing of the guard at Digital Extremes: The Warframe company’s founder and CEO, James Schmalz, has stepped down from his CEO role, turning the reins over to CCO Steve Sinclair. Schmalz says he will stay with the now 30-year-old Canadian company on its board of directors.
Sinclair, of course, is well-known to MMO audiences as the former lead of Warframe and current lead on upcoming MMO Soulframe, a role he will continue to juggle “alongside” Geoff Crookes, the title’s creative director. Rebecca Ford continues her steady reign of the Warframe franchise itself.
Readers will recall that Tencent completed its buyout of Digital Extremes’ parent corporation Leyou back in 2020; the company is also publishing Airship Syndicate’s early access looter-shooter Wayfinder.
We’re thrilled to announce Steve Sinclair (who led development on Warframe and leads development on Soulframe) will assume the role of CEO of Digital Extremes!
Heartfelt thanks to our founder and outgoing leader James Schmalz, who will remain on the board https://t.co/z4bnSK1hbF
