It’s a pair of Pocket Pair updates in this news story, with the developer continuing to crank out the pet-focused footage for its still-gestating survivalbox Palworld and offering a look at what’s next for its early access survivalbox Craftopia.

Regarding the former, a recent tutorial video explains how to strengthen the various pets that can be found in Palworld. Caring and petting pals won’t make them stronger, but combat does, as earning kills grants XP and unlocks more skills. Pals can also eat skill fruit found throughout the world to learn specific skills they might not otherwise learn by leveling, and extra pals can be sacrificed to strengthen a preferred pet. The video additionally points out the variety of skills pals can have, like buff-granting partner skills, healing abilities, or skills that let players use firearms while riding them.

The game’s YouTube channel has otherwise been awash with creature previews, including a literal Jetdragon, the fluffy Vixy, and the… uh… suggestively shaped and debaucherous (according to its critter entry) Lovander. A video that’s not available is a promised new gameplay trailer that was originally set to air on December 18th but had to be postponed for unexplained reasons.

As for Craftopia, Pocket Pair has posted its overal 2024 roadmap, which doesn’t have any release windows but does offer plans for sequential updates and plans for the medium and long-term. Some of the highlights include a new Age of Gods, some new skills, an overhaul to world heritage sites, toolbar sets, endgame crafting and raid content, and a release of the Seamless World update to Xbox. The game’s latest major update added a dedicated server feature (though it’s still very much unfinished), a new desert biome, and the addition of boss skills that can be learned from defeating certain bosses.
