Remember that talk about adapting Final Fantasy XIV into a live-action television series? No, not the Dad of Light series that included FFXIV as a concept, but an actual live-action series set in the universe with all the chocobos, moogles, and Cid beard shots you could ask for. (Unless, like, you could ask for a lot of Cid’s beard.) If you totally forgot about it, that’s all right, as it turns out the efforts to bring the game into live action have failed and the series is completely dead.
According to Dinesh Shamdasani, co-founder of Hivemind (the production company that was pitching the show), it had a multi-season plan and a draft all prepared, but there were no networks willing to put in the money needed for the project to get moving. Thus, the project is no more. No details have been shared on what the story would have been, but on the bright side, there is probably some video game out there that can provide you with some story set in the universe. We’re blanking on the name.
Dead. We took around a fantastic pilot script by Ben Lustig & @jakethornton along with a multi-season plan they built with our show runners but got rejected across the board. The size and scale needed to do it right proved too much for anyone to want to risk. Amazon came closest.
