World of Warcraft: The War Within begins beta testing

“To preserve our world, we must face the shadow.”

With this call to action, World of Warcraft’s newest expansion invites in beta testers from around the globe. The War Within transitioned from alpha to beta this week, opening up the PTR to a larger pool of players. The beta looks like it contains most of the expansion’s content, including The War Within’s four zones, eight dungeons, one raid, one battleground, the new Earthen allied race, delves, warbands, and hero talents.

Testers should be aware of some changes made to the classes and combat systems as well. Blizzard is taking out talents that increase melee range, putting a slow status icon over affected mobs’ heads, and made a sweeping amount of changes to the Death Knight, Druid, Evoker, Mage, Monk, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Warlock, and Warrior. Players should also expect to encounter more useful leveling gear through level 70.
