Ship of Heroes says it’s focusing on polish and better VFX for an ‘eventual launch’

Let’s get the bad-but-obvious news out of the way first: Despite Ship of Heroes saying at the top of the year that it was going to launch in 2024, it seems unlikely that it’s happening so soon. Heroic Games’ latest missive to players is hedging with a reference to an “eventual launch,” and the website won’t commit to a release date at this point (it still says “within the next 12 months”).

However, things are progressing with the superhero MMO as the studio focuses on polishing and improving the core game. In the latest development update, Heroic Games said that it’s “upgrading the powers visual FX, improving consistency within each powerset.”

Other recent projects and improvements include making superspeed better, adding item drop notifications in a way that isn’t annoying, increased the UI elements that can be resized, and included an “inspect” button.

“All powers up to level 50 are being upgraded as we plan for future expansions. Even though the current plan is to launch with powers up to level 20, SoH is built with growth in mind,” the devs said. “As you can tell, our primary focus at the moment is on polishing and perfecting Ship of Heroes for an eventual launch.”
