It’s time for the last patch for the closed alpha of MOBA SMITE 2, and this one is going out with another set of characters to play as and the perfect opportunity to yell “Forth Eorlingas” as you charge into battle. We suppose you could use that battlecry any time you want, but it’s even more appropriate thanks to a crossover event.
We’ll start with the alpha update first, which introduces Aphrodite, Medusa, and Pele to the roster of playable gods. Aphrodite is described as a powerful support character that can heal allies and charm foes, Medusa brings rapid ranged attacks and crowd control thanks to her ability to turn enemies into stone, and Pele is a powerhouse at melee range with explosive fiery attacks.
On top of the three new arrivals, the latest patch provides another round of balance changes to characters and items, introduces three new items, and applies another round of bug fixes. This week also marks the start of a crossover event with the upcoming Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim anime for both SMITE and SMITE 2, which hands out several cosmetics to collect by simply playing 10 matches in either of the two titles. Players have until January 21st in SMITE and January 14th in SMITE 2 to claim these freebies.
