EVE Vanguard shares playtest highlights, EVE Echoes announces new limits to halt oversized alliances

A sandbox like EVE Echoes mostly relies on player alliances having a reason to butt heads or allowing smaller groups an opportunity to flourish or even just participate in gameplay, but as it turns out, players have instead taken advantage of the fact that they can create alliances with as many as 10,000 members, effectively overpowering other corps. That is going to change soon, as developer NetEase is planning on instituting restrictions.

Corp leaders will soon have to face increasingly high fees for sustaining alliances that contain more than five member corps and for adding multiple friendly alliances and corps via diplomacy at certain amounts. Players will also not be able to form an alliance unless their corp is at least level five, and once a new alliance is formed, another cannot be made until 180 days have passed. Declaring an alliance or corp as hostile will still remain free, and players will be able to adjust the number of diplomatic relations they have in order to meet new limits.

NetEase further says that the fees and size limits will be adjusted over the next two to three months, with fees rising and size limits lowering, so if you happen to be playing this mobile sandbox as part of a mega-alliance, you are officially on notice.

In other EVE news, the FPS sidecar feature for the main PC sandbox EVE Vanguard is celebrating the end of its Groundbreak test with a highlight reel and promise of more features in the new year such as new weapons, more structural objectives, and better worldbuilding. Details on the next test aren’t provided, but players are invited to the game’s Discord to keep up to date on all things shooty-shooty.
