We’re just about to finally get our first look at what ZeniMax Online is plotting for Elder Scrolls Online in 2025 and beyond. Readers will already know that last December, the studio announced that it would be discontinuing the annual chapter system in favor of some sort of a seasonal model with smaller updates. But it’s kept quiet on what exactly that would entail, which has worried some folks in the playerbase. Today, the team will finally pull back the curtain.
In fact, if you’ve popped into the MMO today, you’ve already gotten a little tease about what’s to come, as ZOS kicked off A Guild in Crisis, which is the prologue content for the don’t-call-it-a-chapter “next major storyline.” It’s free basegame content, so everyone can hop in to play it.
“In this new quest, you join forces with Prince Azah of Sentinel, son of King Fahara’jad, to gather old allies and uncover the horrifying truth behind the Worm Cult’s resurgence and their dire plans. This quest also features the first appearance of new Player Response options that add depth to your roleplaying experience. Answer NPCs with tones from Ruthless to Flirty and see how they react! In addition to uncovering new lore and characters related to the upcoming story, once you complete the Prologue, you will earn the Mind-Shriven Mudcrab pet as a bonus reward.”
The stream kicks off at 3 p.m. EDT, a few minutes after this post goes live. We’re expecting the ESO Direct stream itself at 3 p.m., followed by a post-show with more info about the update 46 basegame patch itself.
