Is it just me, or does “refer your friend to the game and get stuff” sort of undercut the idea that the most fun you can have in a game is with your friends? After all, if you could really just have the most fun from having a friend around, you wouldn’t need loot to motivate you to recruit, right? But Destiny 2 is indeed going the loot route with recruiting your friends, offering a whole pile of stuff alongside the visualized in-game fun of shooting monster aliens with your buddies.
Players who recruit a friend can acquire the Borealis exotic weapon and ornament, the legendary Murmuration ship, the Double Rainbow Sparrow with a special ornament, and a few other desirable tchotchkes for bringing a friend into the game. Whether or not this is part of a master plan to counteract the apparent disappointment of the game’s last update or just a chance to make a silly trailer is left as an exercise for the reader.
