The Daily Grind: Are you concerned about Guild Wars 2’s End of Dragons?

The Guild Wars 2 community has been a jumble this week. While half of the discussion has centered on the brewing hype machine for End of Dragons and the rest of the summer Guild Wars 2 roadmap, the other half revolves around whether or not people are justified in feeling deep disappointment in the story and conclusion. I saw people literally calling on ArenaNet to apologize, complaining about retcons and Game of Thrones-level botch-jobs. Obviously, not everyone agrees, but even MOP’s own columnists are pretty bummed out over it, as you’ll likely hear next week.

Personally, the Icebrood Saga has never pulled me in. I loved Path of Fire, and I will cheerfully break my “no preorders” rule for End of Dragons, but I’ve had a hard time getting worked up over Icebrood period, and it’s been fizzling for a while. It’s been really obvious for more than the last year that ArenaNet had moved its attention and care to End of Dragons. But if Icebrood turned out slightly underwhelming because End of Dragons is good, well, realistically, I kind of expected that.

Of course, if End of Dragons turns out to be equally meh too, the whole game is in trouble, but one bridge at a time. Are you concerned about Guild Wars 2’s End of Dragons or the overall state of the game based on the conclusion of the Icebrood Saga?
