And we will call it... this land!

All right, when you get tired of all of the fire covering World of Warcraft and Blizzard Entertainment in general right now, maybe you’d like to see how the whole patch 9.2 thing is shaking out. The short version is that there’s still no public test realm, but some things have already been mined out, including three cutscenes relating to the patch’s story.

It should be noted that these are still early sequences being mined; most of the voiceover lines are not yet included, there’s no music, and some models are still encrypted (the versions made available on Wowhead use placeholder models to get around this issue). Still, this should give interested onlookers some idea of what’s going to be happening with the game’s story when the patch becomes available for testing, and if nothing else it’s unlikely that the present and recorded voice lines will be significantly altered. So if you want to see about how players are getting to Zereth Mortis in the first place, watch on.

But, you know… spoilers ahead, yo.

Activision-Blizzard is considered a controversial company in the MMO and gaming space owing to a long string of scandals over the last few years, including the Blitzchung boycott, mass layoffs, labor disputes, and executive pay fiasco. In the summer of 2021, the company was sued by the state of California for fostering a work environment riddled with sexual harassment and discrimination, the disastrous corporate response to which has further compounded Blizzard’s ongoing pipeline issues and the widespread perception that its online games are in decline. As of fall 2021, multiple state and federal agencies are currently investigating the company and the industry has called for Bobby Kotick’s resignation following fresh reports on his misdeeds.
