Destiny 2 launches a week-long sword celebration September 3 and previews a new pathfinder tree

“Swords are cool,” says Destiny 2 developer Bungie. “So why not honor them with a week-long event?” That’s quite literally the rationale granted by the studio for its upcoming mini-event that begins Tuesday, September 3rd, featuring some tweaks to the game to make sword swingers happy little bunnies. Or knights, as the case may be.

From September 3rd through the 10th, every sword in the heavy ammo slot will regenerate ammunition, effectively giving them infinite ammo in activities like seasonal content, strikes, nightfall dungeons, and the Crucible’s relic game mode. There will also be four seasonal challenges related to the sword for players to earn some season pass XP. Finally, Bungie is holding a little contest for two unique emblems when players share their characters doing cool sword things. Because swords are cool.

The newsletter’s other major tidbit is a peek at an update to pathfinder progression trees, which will offer progression trees based on individual activities. This update will arrive when the Revenant episode launches on October 8th.
