Space may very well be the final frontier, but it’s the planets within space that get your imagination going. Elite: Dangerous is letting players touch down on planets with its first major expansion, and we’ve got the video to prove it down below with a preview of the SRV vehicle driving around the surface. Previous videos have shown off what the planetary surfaces will look like in the abstract; this shows it off in practice.
Obviously, the footage here is of a test build rather than the final product, but it’s still a good look at what players can expect when boots (or rover wheels) touch the surface of some strange new worlds. The full video is an hour long, though; don’t expect to watch it all in one sitting unless you’re at home or you have a very permissive boss.
