Were you too busy gaming this week to pay attention to MMO news? Get caught up every Sunday evening with Massively Overpowered’s Week in Review!

Tree of Savior announced plans this week for a staggered launch: early access in March for a fee, and free-to-play in June. Community uproar caused IMCGAMES to rethink that plan and put the schedule to a vote; the new schedule includes a launch for paying founders on March 29th and a free-to-play server opening on April 28th.

Meanwhile, the MMORPG community turned its attention away from EverQuest Next and toward LandmarkDaybreak’s future, and what it all means for western gamers.

Read on for the very best of this week’s MMO news and opinions.

They have the game for download with reviews and all yet you cant play it yet because their are no servers available until Mar 29. Even then you have to pay at least 10 dollars to start playing which is reasonable I believe.

ToS looks like a perfect MMO to log in when you’re in mood for mindless grind. Also its one of the most stylish MMOs Ive seen.
I installed steam client but it doesnt show any servers :(  Oh well, one more month.

blackcat7k Ragnarok Online was only grinding, too?

There are some dungeons and I hear even a raid here and there, that being said ToS is about the journey, much like Path of Exile or Diablo 2 were. If all you see is grind then there’s nothing for you here.

If you can accept that this isn’t WoW clone #364, then there is plenty of content.  Here —> http://www.tosbase.com/game/world-map/  each of those nodes is a zone in the game. About 65% of those have hidden encounters and world bosses. And yes you are reading this right it goes to lvl 500.

Qarran ManastuUtakata the difference is that before if you wanted the cheapest pack you would have had to wait 2 months to get in and would only get 1 month of EA. Now all three price points get in at the same time, the pricier ones just get more free stuff.

I can’t decide if I want a founders pack or not.. id prefer to try the game first but I never got into the closed beta.

mrnastybutler From the screenshots I’m getting a real Final Fantasy Tactics vibe.

ManastuUtakata Qarran  Interesting.  That certainly would be enticing.

Sounds like they’ll (founders and F2P’ers) be on separate servers from the wording of the OP blurb.

McGuffn Kwasimoto  Everquest 3 was never official, so I drew the line for time zero at SOE Live 2013. That makes the risk to be the official announcement of EQN. Up until then SOE wasn’t and would otherwise not be making a commitment to deliver an Everquest game.

blackcat7k These days I welcome grinding at least it’s something different. Nothing turns me off faster nowadays than booting up another generic game that immediately sets you on an endless path of quest hubs and experiencing distraction “features” I could care less about.
