It’s one thing to get a stern talking-to, even when you deserve it. It’s another thing when that lecture comes from a gruff angel-wizard immortal who is sick and tired of your nonsense. So just be glad that you’re not King Theoden in Lord of the Rings Online at this particular moment!
Reader James sent in this particular royal epiphany: “My Runekeeper was working his way through Edoras and by luck happened to be there when Gandalf and company confronted Grima and helped Theoden.”
Now Theoden has retina damage. Way to go, gung-ho Gandalf.
I asked for explosions in last week’s screenshot challenge, I got thoughtful moments of (dis)quiet. I need to stop demanding the impossible from you all! It shows that the community really does know best.
“No visible explosions in this shot,” said Ryuen, “but those who played War Within in Warframe without spoilers will understand. Next up, work my way to the Sacrifice.”
The imminent demise of WildStar seems to have brought out many fond memories — and screencaps — of this soon-to-be-retired MMO.
Vunak23 brought us a vision of everyone’s favorite leggy ghost: “Not mid explosion, but you can see the imminent destruction Drusera is about to lay down on this giant robot.”
Speaking of pre-explosions…
“For the screenshot theme this week, I shuffled through my Black Desert folder and pulled up my Maehwa in the ramping-up stage of explosiveness!” said Toy Clown.
Pre-explosion — or pre-limbo? How low can you go?
“I think I want to spend the last few weeks/days of WildStar on Nexus,” said Amorey, “just to create a few more memories of a game with so many promises but destined for the sunset. I am particularly fond of WildStar — I love the art style, the music, the humor. I want to be on Nexus to see the sun setting for one last time and mourn the loss of another brilliant game.”
Have you ever been there in the final moments or days of an MMO? What’s the last (or one of the last) pictures you took of a particular title before it went dark? Let’s get macabre and share those for this week’s screenshot challenge!
