THE REAL FOLK BLUES

It’s all coming down in Final Fantasy XIV on January 8th, 2019. Patch 4.5, A Requiem for Heroes, launches on that date, bringing with it the Ghimlyt Dark, the conclusion of Return to Ivalice, the first half of the final Stormblood main story quests, and new minigames in the Gold Saucer like an Air Force rail shooter and Doman Mahjong. It won’t quite bring Blue Mage, though; players will have a week before that is implemented so that there’s some time to enjoy the MSQ first.

Of course, the fact that this is just the first part of the MSQ serves as a reminder that the patch will be split into two parts; part two will include the second half of the MSQ along with the final component of Eureka, and further patches will include the wrap-up quest for the diverse beast tribes of Stormblood and further Hildibrand stories. Check out the patch trailer just below and get ready for a steady feed of content starting in early January.

Looking forward to Blue Mage. I’ll just wait til that drops then resub. I really hope New Game + comes before the expansion. I’m not a fan of dungeon running to level and hoping New Game + gives me a “questing” alternative for leveling all those side jobs I want to tackle.

Hydratos is slated to come out with the new PvP map in 4.55, which according to Reddit translations, should be about one month after patch 4.5.

“Part 2” this time around will be patch 4.56 (rather than x.55 like in the past) and comes out in March.

The slides definitely did a poor job conveying how certain things were being split up and when. I don’t think any of the slides actually specify when the second part of the MSQ comes out, and I can only assume that was stated orally in Japanese.

I think at least one part of MSQ is on the day of since the slides would have a note if they released on any other day other than the first day of 4.5.
