That's Trek for you.

Star Trek Online fans, point your eyeballs at PC Gamer this afternoon, as it’s got the scoop on Rise of Discovery – that’s the MMO’s next big update, with transmedia synergy mode fully engaged with tie-ins to Star Trek Discovery itself. It’s not entirely new information, as the roadmap last month already named this content and made clear starship leveling was undergoing major revitalization, plus Star Trek fans have already been going nuts over the free tier 6 ships on offer. But PC Gamer does have a peek into the plot; it says the patch will “fill in some blanks and give us a bit of backstory” about Captain Lorca and Commander Landry.

Meanwhile, what better way to start enjoying ship leveling than with a pair of particularly impressive new command dreadnought cruisers? A full stat breakdown is available for the Buran Command Dreadnought Cruiser for the Federation and the Qoj Command Dreadnought Cruiser for the Klingons, both of which have an impressive design and array of weaponry, abilities, inspiration buffs, and hangars full of eager attack craft.

If they look like exactly the sort of ships you want to be flying, the extra good news is that they’ll both be available for a discount when they launch on April 25th. Purchasing the ships by April 29th will let you pick up one for 2400 Zen or both for 4000 Zen, compared to the normal price of 3000 individually or 5000 for the bundle. Both of them are also available in fleet variants, as well, so players who like what they see might want to grab them early on the cheap.
