One of the big surprises of 2019 – and also one of the most welcome ones – was the revelation that Phantasy Star Online 2 is finally, finally coming westward next year. Cue absolute pandemonium as everyone freaked out, given that we’ve been waiting for this game for nearly eight years and most everyone outside of Japan had long since given up on it.

Anyhow, as of today you can finally stake your claim on the game, or at least in its closed beta, and as long as you live in North America and have an Xbox One, as signups are now live. “You can register for early sign-up on Windows 10, but the Closed Beta is exclusive to Xbox One,” Microsoft and Sega say.

“Phantasy Star Online 2 (PSO2), one of Japan’s biggest online RPGs, is coming soon to users in North America on Xbox One. Beginning today, players in the United States and Canada can sign up for the Closed Beta Test through the Xbox Insider Program to secure a spot and receive special rewards! In Phantasy Star Online 2, you are a member of ARKS, a task force dedicated to exploring numerous planets and protecting the universe against a malignant force called the Falspawn. Embark on a never-ending assortment of missions with fellow operatives and experience unparalleled action RPG combat, completely free to play.”

Check out the post for the complete rundown on how to actually sign up through the Xbox Insider hub.
