World of Warcraft: Classic is surveying players about rolling out The Burning Crusade

Really studying the heck out of a skull.

The rumors about The Burning Crusade coming to World of Warcraft: Classic were at once rather obvious and also seem all but certain at this point. Random players of the game have gotten surveys asking about the next steps for WoW Classic, asking both about the prospect of a TBC server as well as a “fresh start” server for the original version rolling back to phase one of the game’s content structure. That seems to indicate that Blizzard itself is still weighing the options for what players want moving forward.

Further rumors come from a former Nostalrius developer suggesting that news about this could come before the new year rolls around, as said former developer has seemed to have some accurate inside information before. It’d certainly be one way to cap off the year for Activision-Blizzard, which has already closed with its stock at a 27-year high thanks in no small part to the successes of Shadowlands as an expansion launch.

I’d probably prefer seeing them do this for TBC and servers:

1. Classic servers stay in Classic.
2. TBC servers are split into two types – free transfer/ Classic carryover servers where level 60’s from Classic can be moved to, and fresh start servers where everyone begins at level 1.
3. Merge Classic servers as needed.

That way you kind of get to cover all bases – those who want to stay in Vanilla-C can stay in it. Those who want to move on to TBC can move on. Those who want to fresh start in TBC without all the Classic carryovers being around in the game world can do so.

This is probably the best way to handle the expansions. The transferring of servers might be a bit much, but they definitely need to keep an unchanged version of classic for the die-hard fans of it.

Ah, the days I played a mana battery shadow priest. It felt good to be wanted in group content, but man did soloing feel awful.

Shadow Word: Pain didn’t instantly tag a mob upon application back then. It sucked.

Well, going for TBC and then WoTLK is inevitable

Maintained Classic servers, merging as necessary. Yearly/biyearly fresh Classic servers. Ability to port to BC servers where one can start fresh on (there shouldn’t be a debate between those new and old; it wouldn’t be much different than back in the day with new and vet players/characters).

I took a hunter to 50 after WoW launched and left. I’ve returned a couple of times over the years, but it never manages to hold my attention for more than a few weeks.

After hearing how Burning Crusade was WoW at its best for over a decade I’m seriously considering trying it out on classic, or am I thinking of Wrath of the Lich King?

WotLK was the pinnacle. It is still fun to play through.

Yesterday i watched a video for choosing a class in BC, i thought it’s too early for that, but it seems people are just waiting for Blizzard to announce it, they know it’s coming.

Ugh…if they confirm this I’m gonna have to sub back up and finish leveling my paladin. Damn you Blizzard, there’s no way in hell I’m missing out on tanking BC-era content on my paladin again.

I’m enjoying Classic as a new player since Sept. I’m good with allowing transfers to TBC so long as it’s optional or even to do a copy. Seen some on WH who were saying they wouldn’t keep running different instances as time passes, but if there’s a market for it I don’t see why not. Let people get off the train when they want and those who want to stay on, remain.

I want to keep my guys on Classic and I want to take those guys to BC. I want both, it makes sense, lets do it.

The uncertainty about how Blizzard handles this is one of the things that’s kept me away from this. Classic has no particular pull on me, but TBC does as it’s when I first experienced the game. As it stands I wouldn’t roll on a server that stayed in Classic indefinitely, or rely on Blizzard’s willingness to grant free transfers to a future TBC server.

It was why I left after 6 months . I didn’t want to find out after a couple of years they decided to make them progression servers . I’m fine with TBC servers but they need to run Vanilla servers along side them and allow people to copy their characters and play on both.
