The Daily Grind: Do you reroll the same MMO classes over and over?

There’s a whole group of MMO players who have always fascinated me: the type who keep rerolling the same characters over and over. For example, in Guild Wars 2, there’s a slice of the population with dozens of character slots unlocked specifically so they can roll one character of every race and class combination, so they end up with a ton of characters of each class, which even with elite specs must play more or less the same each time. I bet there’s even somebody out there who’s done it for multiple genders and personal stories too. I used to never understand these folks. I’m way, way too lazy for that.

But then I remember City of Heroes, and… maybe I’m not too lazy for that. I have a list of powersets that I really love to play, and while I generally don’t duplicate them too much, I’m a real sucker for storm characters, and I’ve had probably a dozen of them over the years. Right now, I have three that I actually play and keep on rotation! So maybe I understand the urge after all.

Do you reroll the same MMO classes over and over?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
