One Shots: Collect flowers 1/9000

“I think there’s a storm brewing above the land of halflings,” Lethia said. “I started playing an ungodly amount of Lord of the Rings Online recently and… I guess this is how people felt something like 12-13 years ago but, better late than never right?”

First of all, welcome to LOTRO Lethia! Second, enjoy this brief period of ignorance before an elf tells you to go pick all 9,000 of those flowers you’re tramping through right now!

Far underground and in another realm entirely, Munchmeat2 (sequel to the classic Munchmeat) is spelunking in Elder Scrolls Online. It always sounds much more professional to call it “spelunking” instead of “I took a wrong turn somewhere and now can’t seem to find an exit so I might as well grab some loot while I’m down here.”

We asked for windmills and water mill pictures last week, and a couple of our cleverest readers responded with Final Fantasy XIV pics. Hirku Two is up first with this one: “The Goblet has both, along with some lousy weather. Rarrrgh!”

“I’m 90% certain that is a water wheel of sorts in the background,” Vincent said. “Look at me sticking to the challenge two weeks in a row! I’m a conformist!”

Yes. The chip we secretly installed in the back of your head is finally kicking in. That’s good to hear. Please upload your diagnostics at your earliest opportunity.

And we’ll wrap things up with a picture and a short story from MurderHobo’s Valheim adventures:

With that silver we scored, we all got glowy new bows, so we detoured briefly from joining the rest of the team to murder our way along a random shoreline, just viking stuff. Then we topped a ridge and were afforded this stunning view.

Evri spotted it first, as usual. “Village,” he rumbled.

“Fortified pull spot on the right,” Ket mused strategically.

“Spike traps,” I offered in agreement.

Looking for a screenshot challenge? Sure you are! Wing us your best sunrise or sunset picture and how this makes you feel as your retinas are burned to a crisp while your character stares into it!

Every week, One Shots shines a spotlight on the best community screenshots from your MMO adventures. If you have a great pic to share, email it to justin@massivelyop.com with the subject “One Shots.” Make sure that the picture is over 880px wide and comes with a description or story!

Thank you so much for the feature and the warm welcome to the land of LOTRO :D Today i really want to make a small appreciation post about the game’s graphics. We all know that the oddness of character models has been a subject of discussion since forever. But i’m very impressed about the landscape’s detail. How clearly you can see really detailed objects on a ridiculously far distance. Small citadels, the next questing area, trees and mountain details…this is not just an empty shell of cutting graphical corners. Combined with no load-screens between areas, this game is an explorer’s dream haha

Yes when the game was released in 2007 it was arguably the most beautiful game world yet created, still holds up well. I play it almost daily on the Landroval server

LOTRO is still very enjoyable to play and its environment design still holds well even today.

Reposting some shots from the Elyon CBT1 cause this is a damn difficult game to get good shots in.

There are no sunsets in the Shadowlands, least of all in Revendreth.

Great character, immediately made me think of Brian Blessed.

Sunset at Amon Hen above the Anduin River on the East Wall of Rohan. Hobbit Hunter Amaris takes a breather before continuing on her quest to complete the many deeds of Middle-Earth.

The sun never sets on the Sith Empire, thanks in part to the dedicated efforts of Imperial Intelligence Cipher Agents who can go anywhere, be anyone (as long as that anyone happens to be blue).

Chiss! My main was a Chiss Juggernaut (after having a Chiss Sniper main until legacy was added so I could make that juggernaut). My favorite!

My first level 50 was a Chiss Sniper, the same as this one I’m currently working on (on a different server). The original character was in an Intelligence RP group and so I had a Trooper version of her (thanks to the level 50 race unlock) for doing spy things. A long time ago.

Oh yeah, mine goes back to early access. I loved sniper, especially back then, but we needed a tank for raids, they opened up the legacy system shortly after my sniper was 50, and after finishing that story I really wanted to deal with some of those racist NPCs more aggressively so she became my sniper’s daughter, which I used in RP, and force choking that one imperial officer (moff I think?) on Ilum was ever so satisfying!

How about a sunset for the end of time? sometimes i like a simple villain in any story, a nihilistic insane man who just want to die and take everything with him, for no deep reason other than he just want that.

But there is a chance that this villain may have his reasons, which makes the story more interesting.

Hurbster beat me to it, but whatever else you might have to say about ESO, they do a lovely sunset. Even when you’re in an alternate reality that doesn’t have a sun.
