
This week’s Final Fantasy XIV update had our newsroom shaking our heads, not because of any animosity for the game but because the situation – the data center traveling that was the cornerstone of the patch being taken offline almost immediately because of congestion – was so predictable.
“I had a feeling this was going to become a dog’s breakfast,” MOP’s Chris lamented, as multiple people in the XIV community had pointed out that Square Enix was probably being a little too ambitious to think its laggy infrastructure was capable of handling mass server-moves, especially on a patch launch day so close to a major holiday.
