Fleshy.

The Diablo IV team is no doubt feeling the pressure of trying to make long-time series fans happy, trying to carry Blizzard’s fortunes on its back, trying to make people not be mad about Blizzard any more, and hopefully making an actual good game somewhere in the mix. It’s a lot of stuff, in other words. So it helps to have a solid foundation to stand upon, like the world of Sanctuary itself, which stars in a new video showing off the world as a whole entity.

Fans who have been watching the game from its early days will likely find familiar statements herein, like a desire to return to a more washed-out and grey tone instead of having more colorful design. But even if you’ve already followed every bit of development up to this point, there’s still a lot of Sanctuary to see here and plenty of monsters swarming and fighting, so you’ll have something to enjoy in the full video.

Activision-Blizzard is considered a controversial gaming company owing to a long string of scandals over the last few years, including the Blitzchung boycott, mass layoffs, labor disputes, and executive pay fiasco. In 2021, the company was sued by California for fostering a work environment rife with sexual harassment and discrimination, the disastrous corporate response to which compounded Blizzard’s ongoing pipeline issues and the widespread perception that its online games are in decline. Multiple state and federal agencies are investigating the company as employees unionize and call for Bobby Kotick’s resignation. As of 2023, the company is being acquired by no less than Microsoft.
