I'm sad!

The preview of the January update for Final Fantasy XI comes with an apology. No, not for the size of the update; by this point players and fans have been repeatedly told that the updates for the game will be smaller, and this one having a monthly cycling of Ambuscade content along with implementing the bonuses from the Vana’Bout event in December is probably not surprising. However, producer and director Yoji Fujito is apologizing for the fact that the aforementioned event underestimated just how many fans would be participating in the event.

Fujito explains that the staff figured fewer people would take part and thus had to revise the goals after the event had already gone live, which was definitely not in the plan. He notes that this will be information used in the future to make later iterations of the event run more smoothly. For now, players can just dive into the version update and reaping the benefits of this first iteration.
