We’ve had our eye on solarpunk-themed “mediumly multiplayer” sandbox Loftia since last year, when Aussie developer Qloud scored a whopping $1.27M on Kickstarter to build out the title. Last month’s update from the indie studio announced that it had relocated to California, picked up two more developers, and landed an unknown amount of venture capital from the notorious a16z – pre-seed funding that will ideally boost development further.
Now Qloud is back with another Kickstarter dev blog, recapping progress so far. “On the design side of things, the team has been hard at work creating a brand new core quest structure, exploring aspects of energy and various activities, as well as diving into our first adventure! We want to implement a familiar feeling for veteran gamers, while also giving it our own Loftian touch,” Qloud’s key duo writes. “Currently, quests are a vehicle for leading the player around Loftia and the various systems we have to offer, like Player Customization, Community Projects, Farming, Crafting and Player Housing.”
The team also touches on development foundationals, the energy system, themes of sustainability in the game’s art (so many recycling crates, y’all), the weather system, in-game gifting, the new decoration system, and UI tweaks.
