August is shaping up to be an interesting month here in MMO land, and a large part of that is the impending release of Guild Wars 2’s Janthir Wilds. ArenaNet is reminding us of that fact with its latest dev blog, which focuses on one of the expansion’s best bits: the (re)introduction of the warclaw as a mount lots of people will actually bother to claim and use.
The “enhanced” warclaw – called the “journeykin” by the Kodan of the Lowland Shore – become accessible in the dangerous Janthir Syntri map. “While in Janthir, you’ll have the opportunity to forge a bond with a warclaw mount and train a new Mastery line that grants your warclaw new skills in PvE maps,” the studio explains. “The warclaw is a highly mobile mount that can navigate with precision and agility over all kinds of terrain, and it also boasts some unique combat and exploration abilities,” including skills that let it pull enemies toward you, suss out treasure, and avoid fall damage.
If you’re sad that the warclaw is no longer a unique possession of the WvW crowd, don’t be: ArenaNet is also taking advantage of the new development of the mount to update some of its skills in WvW too, meaning you’ll still have good reason to use it.
