Regular fans of the survival sandbox ARK: Survival Evolved are likely extremely familiar with the Aberration map, or perhaps hold a deep affection of it if Studio Wildcard is to be believed. With that in mind, there will hopefully be plenty of delight for ARK: Survival Ascended players as a result of the Aberration map’s return.
Fans should expect a reimagined version of Aberration for ASA as players are brought to a derelict ARK with a complex underground biome to explore. This map promises 15 new creatures including the community-voted Yi Ling, over 50 new items to craft, and the promise of a new storyline to explore, all for free for those who have already purchased the survivalbox.
The other major content addition is for those who bought the Bob’s Tall Tales expansion pass in the form of the free Steampunk Ascent update, which introduces new weapons and tools, new tameables like a fluffy spider friend who uses its web as a grappling hook, new steampunk structures and vehicles including a zeppelin, several cosmetics, and a new robotic companion named SIR-5rM8 voiced by Alan Tudyk. All of the new shiny is spelled out in the patch notes.
