We would say that it has been pretty tough to be a fan of PlanetSide 2 following the IP being sold off by Daybreak to a private equity firm and development moved to Toadman Interactive, which then saw layoffs. Still, there are players who are trying to accentuate the positive and re-energize the playerbase, and they’re doing it with a community-led event that encourages players to invite their friends to the FPS.
The Bring Your Friends PlanetSide event is running for two weekends in November, between the 15th and the 17th and then again between the 22nd through the 24th. The event looks to inject fresh blood into the persistent war MMO and further has the official backing of Toadman with double XP confirmed for the final weekend of the event as well as code giveaways.
Readers might remember that this event was held last year, so this might not be a surprise for the regular PS2 player. Even so, one could argue that this time around the event is more important than ever all things considered.
