If you’re the kind of Path of Exile 2 fan who is staring at the clock, fruitlessly willing it to tick down faster in order to get to its early access launch this week, then you might be the kind of person who wants to know about plans for a pre-download of the multiplayer ARPG that Grinding Gear Games has confirmed.

Yes, those who are eager to get right into the game the moment the servers open (and inevitably turn into tire fires) will be able to pre-download the PC client on Thursday, December 5th, at 8:00 p.m. EST. Players are informed that there may be some additional files to download once early access starts, and the game won’t be live before the appointed hour of 2:00 p.m. EST on December 6th. This pre-download is also specifically for a standalone PC client, but GGG is investigating whether pre-download for other platforms is possible as well.

In tangential POE news, the arrival of the sequel is seeing an influx of new players who are curious about buying into the game. Enter fellow blogger Belghast, who has written a handy guide for early access pack buyers and suggestions on what they should spend their funny money on. Additionally, make sure to check out our own MJ’s hands-on with POE 2; both should help pass the time until pre-download begins.
