Albion Online’s Horizons launches October 28 with open-world love and custom UI editing

We’ve finally got a date for Albion Online’s big fall patch: Horizons officially launches on October 28th. Studio Sandbox Interactive has been talking up the release since the end of August, promising to improve the game’s open-world content, boost range for solo play, and make Outlands PvP more interesting.

“Horizons makes exploring the open world more unpredictable and rewarding. Dynamic Encampments are new mob camps which appear in random areas for a limited time, offering personal rewards for defeating the enemies within,” the studio says today in its lander page for the update. “New Dynamic Resource Hotspots are springing up too, offering a wealth of resources at unpredictable times and locations.” As for soloers and small groups:

“S.A.F.E. Portals teleport solo adventurers from Portal Towns into the deeper reaches of the Outlands, and rewards increase with region quality level, ensuring that the deeper you go, the greater the risks and rewards. Meanwhile, Tier 5 Blue Zones and Tier 6 Yellow Zones on the Royal Continent offer more advanced content in Albion’s safer regions, before players take the step into Red and Black Zones. Mobs are both more challenging and more rewarding. And Group Randomized Dungeons offer increased rewards exclusively for groups, while more Crystal Creatures are roaming the Outlands than ever before – including two never-before-seen varieties.”

We’re also expecting quality-of-life upgrades of the type that make my own ears perk up – like the new HUD editor that basically allows players to fully customize their UI layout.
