The dinosaur-themed survival sandbox ARK: Survival Ascended has had plenty of updates sprinkled throughout the year, but the final week of December saw it get some big updates to wrap up 2024, as the game got its final story content update for the game and another DLC addition to its Tall Tales.
Extinction Ascended brought forth a return to Earth with its new map, which naturally brought on new biome dangers, new creatures to tame including the immense Dreadnoughtus, several new items to craft, and some corrupted titans for players to take on. Meanwhile Bob’s Tall Tales got its third DLC release in the form of Wasteland War, which adds things like vehicles, a faithful dog companion, and new wasteland-themed weapons and items.
While Studio Wildcard calls this update the last in the overall ARK narrative, its end-of-year address promises new challenges and adventures as fans move into the new year. The studio is also continuing to work on ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition, a free-to-play mobile version of the survivalbox for Android and iOS that promises all of the same gameplay in a smaller version. That unfortunately appears to include some instability, bugs, and hacker problems, but Wildcard promises it’s on the case.
