Jagex preps new RuneScape client, takes beta apps for Chronicle TCG

Jagex made bold declarations about the future of RuneScape at this past weekend’s RuneFest in London.

2016 will be a big, big year for RuneScape. There will be no overarching theme – instead, our objective is a simple one. We want every update in 2016 to feel essential. We want you to be wowed by everything that we release, and that means a couple of significant changes.

Specifically, in response to player polling, the studio plans to switch to monthly major releases in addition to “smaller, regular” updates (sound familiar?). Those updates will include content voted on by the playerbase itself, beginning with a fresh solo-oriented God Wars Dungeon, a mining and smithing rework, a new storyline, more raids, a new invention skill, and a new game client, among about a zillion other features.

In other Jagex news, the company has just begun accepting closed beta registrations for Chronicle: RuneScape Legends, its RuneScape-themed online TCG. The beta is anticipated for November. We’ve got new pics and the trailer below.

schlag sweetleaf If I’m not wrong they were developing Chronicle one or two years before the release of Hearthstone.

I hope Darkscape does well.I also hope it can avoid the Mordred Syndrome.I assume it is a ffa server and after the newness wears off ,the reason to play there may become harder and harder to grasp.I say this in somewhat ignorance as I don’t play Runescape so mileage may vary:)

schlag sweetleaf nshelton Jagex is on the rise dudes mark it down. Anyone notice they put our Darkscape? A hardcore full pvp version of runescape, looks very active. I just cannot bend my  mind around clicking to move anymore!

nshelton Not hating on Runescape in particular, just the dearth of innovation in most games today.

Eh, dont be haters. Runescape has a massive following who would probably love a TCG game with the same lore. Not to mention.. it looks more like a real classy table top game, not just a table.
